  3. Hi, I am using a direct rainfall approach (4m grid) for a model which comprises a representation in ISIS of a watercourse. The ISIS model is linked to the Tuflow domain via ususal HX links set at the bank top. In some locations as shown in the attached picture the links are set at the bottom of steep slopes and model outputs show great depths values on the top of the 1D/2D boundary cells. These large depths values do not make sense as they are not consistent with the water depth reported in the ISIS model. It seems as if the link is not working and water is trapped between high ground on the landward side of the 1D/2D cells and the deactivated area (1D domain). Does anyone have an explanation for this and some tips to avoid this from occuring. Thanks Mathieu
  4. Hi I have set up a pipe network with Estry discharging at various points in a watercourse modelled with ISIS. I have set up the Estry-ISIS link using the recommended guidance: a point layer in Estry with "X1DH" in the Conn_2D attribute. As the simulation run through, Tuflow outputs at each time step the following message in the DOS windows: "External 1D level interpolation outside times.************ 0.00000000" which I am not sure what it really means. Has anybody seen this before? Thanks Mathieu

Hi I am looking for some good tips and tricks to automatically generate overland flow path vectors (to be overlayed on a flood depth map) when modelling pluvial flooding using the direct rainfall approach. Is there a way to set of a cut off velocity using Tuflow_to_gis to remove the lowest velocities? I have played a little bit with the Tuflow_to_gis scaling factor but I am going no where. Would appreciate any good tips to get flood maps where you can clearly see the flow paths? Many thanks for your help Mathieu

  7. I was wondering if there is a quick way to set up Egg shape culvert in Estry. I have got 100+ pipes of this type and I would like to avoid using the irregular shape method which can be time-consuming. Could a circular or rectangular type do the job with additional form loss and if yes what recommended value should I use for the form loss? Many thanks for your help Mathieu
  8. Does any body know how to model a pump wit Estry? I have an offline storage tank that once full requires to be pumped out to a storm water network. I would like to set up a pump + rising main that would operate according to the water level in my storage tank. Any suggestions? Thanks Mathieu
  9. I have some issues with the ccA output of a surface drainage network model linked to the surface via pits. The only inflow to the system is through the direct rainfall approach applied to the 2D grid (5m). In numerous instances, the ccA shows a pipe to be at full capacity (purple colour) whereas when I interrogate the flow time series, no flow in the pipe is recorded throughout the simulation. I guess this is probably due to some spikes of instabilities occuring. Therefore I was wondering if there is a way to filter these spikes so that the ccA output gives us a correct interpretation of what's going on. Many thanks Mathieu
  10. I am running a model at 5m resolution using a direct rainfall approach over a large urban catchment. With a timestep of 2s, I am experiencing some negative and very high depths on areas where the topography is very steep as shown on the figure attached (the orange patches indicates depth larger than 1 m). Curiously the overall MB is fine and I also use a varibale roughness with higher manning's at shallow depth. I was wondering if someone can recommend me some useful tips to stabilise the model is these areas. Many thanks
  11. Hello I am looking for some general advice on modelling a 26 km2 estuary under extreme tide levels using LiDAR data as ground information. The size of the area does not allow for a very fine grid, 20m cell resolution to the most. However, from experience, I have found such kind of models are often subject to instabilities and high MB error probably due to "bumpy DTMs". Has anybody got some tips for this kind of modelling? Is there a clever way to utilise the 2D/2D linking maybe? Thaks for the advice Mathieu
  12. Yes you can run ISIS_Tuflow batch files with an .ipf.   13. I am envisaging to model an estuary and its tidal floodplain as indicated on the attached map. A great part of the floodplain is protected from flooding by a running embankment shown in red on the map. One objective of my study is to flood map the tidal intrusion through a breach in the embankment (indicated in green). I am planning on using a coarse grid over the estuary area and a finer grid over the floodplain (land) area extending behind the embankment. I was wondering if it would be wise to set up my 2d/2d link at the exact location of the breach or should I set up the link slightly further north (seeward) of the embankment to avoid boundary effect and have good confidence in the modelled flow through the breach.   14. I am looking for help in the schematisation of the boundary between a 2D upstream domain and a 1D downstream domain as shown on the attached image. As indicated floodplain flow is expected from the 2D domain into the 1D domain which uses extended cross-sections to account for the floodplain area. I am wondering how should I schematise my 1D/2d link (in red) at the boundary so that the flooplain flow is correctly pass on to the 1D domain? Is a progressive widening of the cross-section and therefore the link recommended to avoid instability issues (I am using ISIS-Tuflow!)? Many thanks for your help Mathieu
  15. Hi I am set upping a 1d network consisting of drainage culverts linked to 2D ground through very large gullies (W10mxL2mxD2m). When I try to run the model, it returns this error "No NA data for Node Gully1" for some of the Pit channels (not all of them) I use for the gullies. Can anyone help me on that one? Thanks Mathieu
