  1. Hi, We're currently modelling a 460ha catchment with rainfall on the grid. We are modelling roughly 2000 pits and pipes in the network. I have run ten ARR2019 temporal patterns for the 1% AEP 30 minute duration storm, and on first glance all seems well. However, I started looking at the flow going into all the pits and found a lot of the pits are showing a strange inflow hydrograph. It generally looks like the top of the hydrograph I’m expecting to see has been inverted on itself. See attachment. It seems to mainly occur where there is substantial flooding around the pit entry area. It also always starts around the 0.2 hour mark, generally a little before but it changes by pit.   2. Hi TUFLOW family, I have a question regarding modelling older arch culverts in TUFLOW where the bottom of the culvert contains curved edges (see attached image). For the culvert I'm currently trying to model, when I include the curved sections in the the required HW table, TUFLOW throws the following error: https://wiki.tuflow.com/index.php?title=TUFLOW_Message_1343. To get around this, I made the sides completely straight - and that worked fine, but I'm concerned that the flow through the culvert may now be overestimated. Modelling the culvert this way (as an irregular culverts in a 1d_nwk layer) obviously has constraints when H values don't always increase. Does anyone have a solution to a way around this problem? Given there are a lot of historical 'arch' culverts around Australia, this may be a limitation if the curved sections cannot be modelled.
  3. Hi there - I'm after some advice in relation to an operation pump I have within my model. The pump is controlled by the upstream water level, and I have a working definition as follows: Define Pump Control == Pump_House !---------------deafult Setting ------------ Pump operation == off Pump Capacity == 0.591 ! capacity in cums Pump period (min) == 1 ! time to start Pump number == 2 ! No of pumps !Set user variable Water_Level == H1D BD2.2 ! Logic if Water_Level > 0.5 ! triger level to start pump Pump operation == on else if Water_Level < 0.1 ! triger level to stop pump Pump operation == off else Pump operation == no change end if End Define In reality the pump needs to start at a water level of -1.3 and stop at -2.0. When I set the variables to these values I am presented with the following error, as if TUFLOW cannot recognize a negative value?: “NoXY: ERROR 1513 - Input variable in line below has not previously been defined. Operating Control Line = if Water_Level > -1.3; Operating Control Input Variable = http://wiki.tuflow.com/index.php?title=TUFLOW_Message_1513” Has anyone else encountered such an issue, or does anyone know a solution? Hi All I am in the process of modelling an inverted siphon (depressed sewer) within ESTRY, and before I get too far I thought I should stick up a post to see if anyone was aware of any 'special measures' this required. The upstream side of the siphon is to be connected to the 2D domain, and the downstream side to a 1D pipe network. I am proposing to model the siphon using two pipe nwk lines which meet at the siphons invert. So the pipe on the downstream side will have an adverse gradient (forming a v-shape under the road). I am hoping that this approach should avoid any overly short/steep reaches. As I say, just interested to hear of anyone else's experience modelling such a structure. Cheers
  5. Hi, I am trying to produce a time varying long section plot along an ESTRY (1D) branch in my 1D/2D model. Using the Excel macros I can plot the water level at either the start or end point of a branch versus time and using the miTools I can plot a long section of my branch. Yet neither of these seems to offer me a way to display the water level along my branch (and with the correct longitudinal distance) at a particular time. Is it possible to do this and if so how? I have attached a picture that gives an idea of the kind of output I would like to produce. Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions or comments. Regards, Franciscus
  6. Hi I want to ask forum whether any issue with a flood shape if the pipe is sticking out from ground in 1d data set. Example Pipe 525mm connected from Pit 1 to Pit 2 Pit 1 (upstream) US_invert = 9999 DS_Invert = 2.1 Ground RL = 2.6 Pit 2 (downstream) US_invert = 9999 DS Invert = 1.6 Ground RL = 2.28 As a result of above, pipe is sticking out to ground without cover. In general network, not all pipes sticking out Question, Is there any issue in localized flood shape (on that pipe segment area) & whole network of flood shape characteristic? David

    1D Pumps

    Hi, Trying to model pumps within estry. I've put the pumps in a 1d_nwk layer, with a unique ID and type = PO with a toc defining the operating rules. I've read the 1d_nwk layer in using "Read MI Network" within my 1D section in my tcf but this seems to be reading the pumps as manholes rather than pumps? Any ideas whether i've done this right/common errors/hints? Thanks

Hi there, we have a 2d model with 1d pit and pipe elements. the pipe network discharges (free to atmospheric) to the ocean. the pipe network is quite long however. is there a flag / command / method we can utilise that extracts these flows from the system at the pit node without incorporating the long length 1d element? incorporating the long length 1d element slows our sim time down considerably. thanks
