1D-2D lniked simulation fails at the start

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am trying to run ISIS-Tuflow linked model.

The model runs stably at timestep of 5 sec when run in 1D domain alone and is free from any 2D file errors or warnings but fails to start the simulation when linked with 2D domain.

Cell size used - 4m, 2D timestep - 5 sec

I have checked the initial stage at all cross-sections and it is within the banks. However, model is still failing at the start of the run.

Regards,

Ankita

Hi Ankita,

Your 2D time step is most likely too high. As a rule of thumb the 2D timestep should be between ½ to 1/5 of your 2D cell size (in SI units).  Section 3.4 of the 2016-03-AE Manual discusses this further if you're interested in some further reading.

Please test whether reducing your 2D time step fixes the issue. With a 4m cell size I recommend testing a 2D time step of 2s and 1s.
