Point inspection in Vertical Mapper in MapInfo

Recommended Posts

Hello, All

After creating a 2D tuflow zpt file for a relevant large domain (6*5km), I used Vertical Mapper to retrieve the elevations from a series of Lidar files (grd files created from asc); using the Vertical Mapper/Analysis/Point Inspection. I made the process running on my C drive to avoid network shutdown during night.

Unfortunately I didn't get the elevation from the Lidar files but had an error message: "MapInfo Professional application file has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program".

I am a new user to Tuflow and Vertical Mapper. This is my first Tuflow model build. Could anyone help to provide some clues for the causes of this failure?

I am looking forward to hearing advices and thanks very much,

Lei

what's your grid size? There are 2 options...

1) your Z point file's too big & MapInfo / Vertical Mapper's crashed due to insufficient RAM. It'd have to be a pretty big Z point file to do this I reckon

2) Vertical Mapper's being buggy. You might need to reinstall it &/or MapInfo

Have you done point inspections with Vertical Mapper on that PC & install before? If not, maybe try again with a smaller points file to see if that works

Thanks Sam. I finally managed to find an error in the grd file which was created from Lidar asc files. So the function works now. Cheers, Lei
